Dear Friends of Phi Chi,

It is with great sadness that we inform you that on Friday, May 23th, the beloved Chi Chapter of the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity suffered a devastating 3-alarm fire that engulfed most of the house in flames. Over one hundred local firemen were required to put out the blaze and the resulting destruction was catastrophic. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, but most of the medical students lost all of their material possessions in the blaze and were forced to find alternate temporary residences. The Jefferson community’s response has been overwhelmingly supportive, as they have already helped us replace many important study materials and medical supplies.

Despite upcoming Medical Exams, the Chi Chapter brothers maintained composure, supported one another throughout the tragedy, and finished the year strong. While this tragic blow has displaced us, we remain determined to rebuild the house and make the Chi Chapter of the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity better than ever. While this task seems lofty, we are certain that with your generosity and our resolve, anything is possible.

While we await an estimate of the damages, we are initially taking out a $350,000 mortgage and will be using your donations exclusively to make payments on the mortgage so we can pay for remediation and reconstruction. While this amount of money is daunting, we know that with your help we can achieve this worthy goal.
